Ayu Sudana

FOUNDER & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Born into a Balinese coffee-farming family, Ayu Sudana grew up understanding the dedication, uncertainty and patience behind every harvest.

Her family began growing coffee in Bali’s highlands in 1985. Today, Ayu leads Bali Beans with a vision to transform the traditional coffee supply chain by creating a more direct and transparent connection between farmers and consumers.

As a Balinese woman, farmer’s daughter and entrepreneur, Ayu is passionate about changing how people see agriculture. Her mission is to give farmers greater recognition, encourage the next generation to remain connected to farming and show consumers exactly where their coffee comes from.

Under her leadership, Bali Beans has grown beyond the plantation into coffee processing, roasting, wholesale, retail, hospitality and educational farm experiences—while remaining grounded in the family and farming community where the journey began.

Bali Beans is more than a coffee brand. It is the story of our family, our farmers and our belief that agriculture deserves a stronger and more sustainable future.

Behind every cup of Bali Beans is a community of farmers, producers, roasters, hospitality professionals and creative people working together.

We are proud to be a family-rooted, Balinese coffee company that remains involved throughout the complete coffee journey—from growing and harvesting in the mountains to processing, roasting, serving and delivering our coffee.

Our team brings together generations of farming knowledge and a new generation of ideas. Each person plays an important role in protecting quality, supporting our community and sharing authentic Bali-grown coffee with the world.

Our farmers are at the heart of Bali Beans.

Working in Bali’s mountain region, they care for the coffee trees throughout the year—from nurturing the soil and maintaining the plantation to carefully selecting ripe coffee cherries during harvest.

Their knowledge has been shaped by years of experience and passed between generations. By combining this traditional understanding with sustainable farming and new processing developments, we continue to improve the quality and character of Bali-grown coffee.

Plantation and Processing Team

Our plantation and processing team manages the crucial journey from freshly harvested cherry to green coffee bean.

Based directly at origin, the team carefully sorts, processes and dries each harvest. They work with natural, black honey and pulped washed methods while continuing to develop new techniques at the farm.

Their attention, patience and understanding of each harvest allow Bali Beans to create distinctive coffees that express the land, climate and character of Bali’s highlands.

Roastery and Quality Team

Our roastery team brings the work of the farm into its final expression.

Each coffee is roasted with careful attention to its origin, processing method and natural flavour profile. Through roasting, tasting and quality control, the team works to preserve the character of the bean and create a consistently memorable Bali Beans experience.

Because we remain connected from plantation to roastery, our team understands not only how the coffee tastes, but also how it was grown and processed.

Café and Hospitality Team

Our café and hospitality team shares the Bali Beans story with every guest who walks through our doors.

From preparing coffee and food to guiding tastings and welcoming visitors, they create the personal connection between our products and our customers. Their role is not simply to serve coffee; it is to share its origin, explain its journey and make every guest feel part of the Bali Beans community.

Wholesale and Retail Team

Our wholesale and retail team connects Bali Beans with cafés, restaurants, hotels, retailers and coffee lovers in Bali and beyond.

They support our partners with product knowledge, coffee selection and reliable service while ensuring that the story and values behind Bali Beans travel with every product.

As we grow into new retail markets, this team helps us build responsible partnerships that remain true to our quality, origin and purpose.

Our brand and social media team brings the Bali Beans journey to life through photography, storytelling, education and digital content.

Finance and Administration Team

Behind every successful harvest, delivery and customer experience is a team ensuring that the business operates responsibly.

Our finance and administration team supports the structure of Bali Beans through accounting, planning, coordination and daily operational management. Their work allows our farmers, production team and hospitality team to remain focused on delivering quality at every stage.
